Make new friends

Make new friends

Joining band is an easy way to make new friends because we spend so much time together practicing, performing and competing. For incoming freshmen, summer band camp helps you get a jump on high school with a new circle of friends!

Compete around SoCal

Compete around SoCal

Band offers you a chance to be part of a team and compete! In the fall, we travel around Southern California to perform with other high school bands in weekend field show competitions. We consistently make it to championships and rank as one of the best bands in our division.

Regional & National trips

Regional & National trips

In past years, we have performed at Carnegie Hall, marched in New York City's St. Patrick's Day Parade, and played in a Disneyland parade. We have a Spring 2023 trip planned to Disney World!

Earn P.E. credit

Earn P.E. credit

Band members get plenty of exercise. That means you earn P.E. credit during the fall semester, so you do not have to enroll in P.E. in the fall.

Raise your GPA

Raise your GPA

The majority of band students maintain a GPA over 3.5, and one in three has a 4.0 or higher. Recent VHS band alumni have gone on to UCLA, UCSB, and the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston.
