VHS Jazz Mission Statement:

The Valencia High Jazz Program is dedicated to providing a safe and encouraging environment for musicians to build their musical skills culminating in performances of authentic and entertaining jazz concerts. Students are often challenged and encouraged to think critically to overcome musical hurdles through collaboration, hard work, and determination. Through this process, students will develop pride, self-confidence, and discipline that can be applied to all aspects of life. Our band room is a friendly, all-inclusive space free of judgement where all members are encouraged to be their authentic selves. Through jazz we hope to inspire empowerment, excellence, and community. If you are interested in joining our Concert Jazz Band please fill out the google form below!

  1. Because the instrumentation of a jazz band is somewhat limited there will be a vetting process if there are too many students interested in any specific positions. This decision is made at the discretion of the director. The factors that will be weighed during the decision making process are seniority in the jazz band, experience playing jazz, and a short audition if absolutely necessary. ↩︎
